changed the flame and did some more shading and a bit of highlighting.
still a lot of actual shading left to get it to look right.

I discarded the decorative border/background for a simple gradiated sky. I think it has more impact this way. The border seemed to take away from the character.

Anyway, I still have more shading to do on her hair, clothing and wings, and then I have to add lighting from the flame.

But other than that, it's getting close to being done!

It's amazing how a good coloring job can spice up an artwork! That's great work you're doing there. :)

i don't have anything in mind... i considered maybe doing a slight border... but i don't know. i think maybe less is more. what do you think?

I'm not really sure either myself. I think something has to fill up the white space whether it be more of the sky or border of sorts.

If there is one thing i've learned from my years as a graphic artist... it's that not all white space needs to be filled. ^_- Though I do think a border might give it just the right 'umph', though i'm not sure. I'll have to play with it.
I still have the stars that fill in teh rest of that sky behind the white, so I'll more than likely do two versions. My husband has already asked for a full sky version to use for a screen on his blackberry. So yeah. We'll see what actually ends up lookign better.
